Words from our winners—World Whiskies Awards RoW 2025
01.04.25
We spoke to recent winners of the World Whiskies Awards (Rest of World) 2025 who told us why they entered the competition and how an award win will help their brand in the global whisky marketEach year, the World Whiskies Awards sees a multitude of winners from all over the world showcase their exceptional products. With award winners ranging from returning champions to first-time entrants, the competition aims to celebrate both the success of larger brands and smaller, independent drinks producers.
We recently spoke to two winners of the World Whiskies Awards RoW 2025— Jamie Johnson, the Canadian national brand ambassador for Glenfiddich and The Balvenie, and Magnus Grinneback from The Manx Whisky Company. We asked them for their thoughts regarding their award win and what it meant for their brand.
Jamie Johnson commented on her Icons of Whisky award (Scotch Whisky Brand Ambassador of the year): “I am deeply honoured to receive the 2025 Icons of Whisky Award. I feel so very lucky to represent two exceptional brands—Glenfiddich and The Balvenie for William Grant and Sons. Being a brand ambassador, I have the privilege of meeting people all across Canada and sharing my favourite stories, liquids and my passion for these brands. To think I’m able to win an award for this feels a bit like a dream come true.”
Magnus Grinneback mirrored Jamie’s thoughts and discussed The Manx Whisky Company’s gold medal win for the small batch single malt category: “It’s incredible and quite humbling to be judged by all these judges blindly in a competition and come out as one of the very best. For us to get recognised like this as a small distiller really confirms for us that we’re on the right track.”
We also spoke to Texas whiskey advocate and whisky sommelier Jake Clements, a member of the World Whiskies Awards 2025 judging panel, and asked him why he feels entering the competition is beneficial for all types of entrants: “The World Whiskies Awards contributes to the whisky community by having entries from every category and country coming together to create a global community. I would recommend producers to enter the World Whiskies Awards simply by association alone—the marketing and the awards from this competition are extremely valuable!”
